Ahmri Vandeborne (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist, using shadow imagery and various methods of light manipulation to explore the tension of fleeting interactions. Trained as a painter and printmaker, Ahmri uses collaboration as an essential tool to explore spacemaking through public installations and
immersive community experiences. Her passion for community extends into her work as owner of Otherwise Studios, an inclusive space offering opportunities for teaching, innovating, and mess-making.
Ahmri has extensive arts administration, art handling, community facilitation and arts education experience, having worked in a variety of non-profit and small business spaces. She believes in the power of art as a vessel for community care and centralizes her practice around providing access in the arts through inclusive community-engaged programming, interactive art experiences, and teaching
artists with varying abilities.
Ahmri holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours with Distinction, in Studio Art from the University of Guelph, where she also completed minors in French and Art History.
